An article in the Salt Lake Tribune talks about recent changes in personnel at the Salt Lake Mayor's office. The article talks about having one of the staffers clean out a bird cage. I'm sure part of this cleaning includes taking care of bird poop. Mayor Anderson's Chief of Staff is quoted as saying: "I've done it, and I'm the chief of staff. It's just something that needed to be done."
What a terrible quote! There are many things that need to be done in my daily life, blowing my nose, getting a drink, flushing the toilet, etc. Some things should just not be delegated. Cleaning up poop is one of those things. If you don't like, or don't have time for, cleaning bird poop, don't have a bird!

I absolutely agree with you. If it is the City's bird then by all means have a staff member clean the cage. But that should be in their job description when they take the job so they know.
But I think I would have a problem with the mayor requiring his city paid staff cleaning the cage of his own bird. And the other thing about having a staff member pick up a homeless criminal from his house. It is great the Rocky is such a nice guy. But having city paid staff running his personal errands and taking care of his personal problems is beyond what the city should be paying for.
How many other politicians have taxpayer funded personal assistants and others (chief of staff) doing their personal errands?
